Julia has a broad range of experience in both the pharmaceutical and renewables sectors spanning 20 years. She was Associate Research Director at TMO Renewables Ltd in Guildford leading technical teams and matrix managing multi-disciplinary biofuel projects. Prior to this position she worked in the pharmaceutical industry managing technical programmes in drug discovery for Cubist and Xenova, working with partners such as Bristol Myers Squibb and Genzyme and also on internal programmes.
Julia enjoys collaborating with a broad range of people and has experience of managing interactions and teams in worldwide multi-site locations. She is excited about new projects and skilled at listening, analysing and evaluating these. She obtains great satisfaction from inspiring, shaping and rolling out good ideas into real projects.
Julia holds a Ph.D and first class honours degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College, London where she was awarded the Usmani Medal and Armstrong Prize for outstanding research in Biotechnology. She also gained qualifications in management during her time leading research teams and is the author of numerous publications and conference presentations
